Things Dylan thinks about tattoos that Dylan probably shouldn’t think

  • If I had a tattoo gun, I would probably let a large portion of my friends tattoo me.
  • I like stick & poke tattoos.
  • I would totally be someones guinea pig tattoo-wise.

I have a couple of Stick&Pokes. One of them is my favourite tattoo. I know they are not safe, and they don’t always look great, but I love them. This fits in with the other two points; tattoos are not always about beauty for me. They are about control and taking charge of my body. If I can permanently scar my body in a few seconds with a blade, why can’t I do it with a tattoo? They don’t have to be carefully thought out. My body is my own, it looks the way it is because of my experiences, not because of planning. My WTWTA tattoo is far from perfect, but I don’t think I will get it touched up, I have no current plans to, anyway. It represents an experience, and a time, and it was something I needed to do right then and there. I went to an artist who wasn’t my first choice, or my second, because it was something that had to be done that day. But I don’t regret it in the slightest. It is imperfect and the shading isn’t well done at all, but that isn’t important. I have my ex’s initial tattoo’d on me. I still don’t regret that, even if we parted in a bad way. But I did it for a reason, and that reason stood, at the time. I might modify it, but I don’t plan to cover it up, because it was important that it was there at some point. My scars are all there for a reason, inked or cut, intentional or not.

Mod plans:

these are subject to chance potentially.

  • Grow hair; dread hair.
  • Stretch lobes more when that happens
  • My murder of crows (sleeve, if you ask I will give you more details)
  • I want more tattoos but I don’t want to plan them. I have another post half written about tattoos.
  • I need more shit in my ears but I don’t know what order to put them in

How To Ruin Your Life

Get stuck. Stay in one place your whole life. Always order vanilla even though the menu is four pages long. Become the type of person who sends back lattes. Save up your money for a plasma TV instead of a plane ticket. Talk a lot about things you know nothing about. Have an affair with someone you don’t even find attractive.

Refuse to forget your ex. Make it impossible for yourself to do anything without remembering that you used to do it with them. Hug your knees under the sheets and think about how safe you felt when they held you at night. Remind yourself daily of how empty you feel. Find new ways to make yourself sad.

Get drunk all the time. Consider no Saturday night, national holiday or extended happy hour complete without a vodka-induced breakdown. Graduate college but keep drinking like you’re still in it. Notice that cheap beer tastes watery and stale when you drink it alone but drink it anyway. Look at old Facebook photos wasted and wonder where everyone went.

Never drink. Never do anything that could potentially be “bad” for you. Treat your body like the temple it is and say no to carbs, yes to wheatgrass, go to bed at ten sharp and turn down cake on your birthday. Take fifteen different dietary supplements. Monitor carefully. Succumb to nothing. Miss out on everything.

Compare yourself constantly, to everyone. Allow the standards of image-obsessed, age-obsessed culture to make you feel decrepit at 25. Scroll through skinny girls on Tumblr feeling wistful and inadequate. Pull at the skin on your hipbones, stomach, and underarms in the mirror. Sigh a lot. Sigh all the time.

Don’t fall in love with anyone or anything. Put an impenetrable wall between yourself and other people. Add a fire-breathing dragon and eight yards of barbed wire. Be suspicious of everyone’s motives. Hold grudges long after you’ve forgotten what for.

Fall in love with everyone and everything. Run after the next best thing like it’s a bus you’re perpetually late for. Throw your heart into every other stranger’s hands and be genuinely surprised to be hurt. Refuse to learn. Refuse to ever learn.

Movies everyone should see (most are famous but still):

  • Battle Royale - Kind of The Hunger Games, but more violent, less mutated animals. AWESOME.
  • Beetlejuice - HILARIOUS movie about dead people. Just watch it.
  • Bill & Teds Bogus Journey - Don’t bother with the first one, this makes sense on its own and is hilarious.
  • Boys Don’t Cry - SAD. Watch anyway.
  • Bridge to Terabithia - one of my favourite kids/imagination related movies
  • Casper - I like Kids movies. This is brilliant.
  • Chasing Amy - HILARIOUS and brilliant.
  • City of Ember - Another kids movie, didn’t get enough people seeing it and this makes me sad. I watched it 9 times in a row.
  • Clerks - this is a cult classic for a reason. Also watch the sequel. Both brilliant.
  • Eagle Vs Shark - WEIRD comedy.
  • FIREFLY. (Also Serenity) Short TV show. Space Cowboys. Brilliant beyond words.
  • Ghost World - another weird comedy
  • Hook - The BEST Peter Pan related thing. Fucking amazing.
  • K-PAX - Not as good as the book but still a rad movie
  • Let The Right One In - Swedish Vampire movie. Perfect. A masterpiece.
  • Mallrats - basically, watch all of Kevin Smiths movies.
  • Return to Oz - Favourite Oz related thing. CREEPY AND WEIRD AND AMAZING.
  • Sunshine - uhh. Space stuff. Brilliant beyond everything. Also has Cillian Murphy in.
  • Tideland - weird movie about kids/imagination. Kind of a marmite film but I love it
  • Trollhunter - mockumentary about trolls.
  • Twelve Monkeys - Hard to describe. Brilliant.
  • Weird Science - Dumb, hilarious sci fi movie from the 80s. Two nerds make a women.
  • Where The Wild Things Are. Just watch.

THERE ARE MORE I GOT DISTRACTED.

CARS, BOLDED ONES ARE ONES YOU SHOULD SUPER WATCH

If I had to pick 5 for you it would be Return to Oz, Tideland (because I think you’ll enjoy it), Weird Science, Hook, &City Of Ember.

Don’t be offended they are mostly kids films. Kids films are my favourite.
